I walk out the front door and sooner rather than later I notice things that make me ponder. Sometimes I ponder deeply and fruitlessly, and sometimes I do Ponder Lite and just absorb the beauty.
Here are some recent places and things that made me look twice:
I think reflections beat the actual object because they give you a slight release from reality and musing upon what you see can be more entertaining than simply looking at something, however interesting it may be. I wish I could show you some of my reflections from Venice.
I am sure i have noticed the reflections somewhere. Was it near the fondamenta nove? As for the chair…i wished i had had it when i was a kid. I cant tell u the agony of standing up for 50 minutes in a cold boat!
Depressing as well as surprising, that shot of people inside the motoscafo! What are all those people doing up and about in Venice at 6 am, and in winter too? That’s an hour of the day when I used to rely on even Piazza San Marco being empty except for the broom wielders. Don’t tell me that even Castello East has become a tourist mecca!
I share your feelings about the portable chair, and I don’t know why either.
John
The people were already on the motoscafo when I boarded, which means they were coming either from the Lido or Sant’ Elena, which means they were either tourists heading to the airport or the train station, or commuters already heading to work. I can’t think of any other category that would qualify for that time and place. Your standard tourist is still asleep at 6:00, and also at 9:00, sometimes.

i agree about the reflections. i’m making a study of them, but they’re really difficult to paint in a way you can understand.

I’m sure your reflections are quite beautiful. This is one city that cries out to be depicted upside down and inside out.
